Fumio Watanabe
Biography
Fumio Watanabe (October 31, 1929 – August 4, 2004) was a prominent Japanese actor celebrated for his collaborations with renowned New Wave filmmaker Nagisa Oshima. Hailing from Tokyo, he completed his education at the University of Tokyo before embarking on his acting career at the Shōchiku studio in 1956. Throughout his career, Watanabe gained recognition for his versatile performances and significant contributions to Japanese cinema, particularly during the innovative period of the 1960s and 1970s.
