Biography
Xu Zheng, born on April 18, 1972, in Shanghai, China, is a prominent figure in the Chinese entertainment landscape, recognized as an actor, director, screenwriter, and producer. He completed his education at the Shanghai Theatre Academy in 1994 and first gained popularity for his comedic performances in television series, particularly in the show Sunny Piggy (2000). This series not only catapulted him into the spotlight but also marked the beginning of his relationship with actress Tao Hong, who later became his wife.
Making a successful shift to film, Xu achieved widespread acclaim with his directorial debut, Lost in Thailand (2012), a project he also co-wrote and produced, while taking on a leading role. The film was a phenomenal success, setting box office records across China. He continued to enjoy success with subsequent films such as Lost in Hong Kong (2015) and Dying to Survive (2018), which further demonstrated his ability to captivate audiences as both an actor and filmmaker.
