John Karlen
Biography
John Karlen, originally named John Adam Karlewicz, was a notable American character actor recognized for his diverse performances on the ABC soap opera Dark Shadows. Throughout the show's run from 1966 to 1971, he portrayed several memorable characters, including Willie Loomis, Carl Collins, William H. Loomis, Desmond Collins, Alex Jenkins, and Kendrick Young. In addition to his work on Dark Shadows, Karlen is perhaps best remembered for his role as Harvey Lacey, the spouse of Mary Beth Lacey, played by Tyne Daly, in the CBS crime drama Cagney & Lacey, which aired from 1982 to 1988. Karlen's contributions to television and his ability to embody a range of complex characters cemented his status in the acting community.
