Carolyn Laurie Kane, born on June 18, 1952, is a celebrated American actress and comedian whose career spans decades. She gained prominence in the 1970s with standout performances in films such as *Hester Street*, which earned her an Academy Award nomination, and Woody Allen's *Annie Hall*.
In the early 1980s, Kane became a beloved television figure through her role as Simka Gravas on the hit series *Taxi*, where she portrayed the wife of the quirky Latka, played by Andy Kaufman. Her exceptional talent garnered her two Emmy Awards, solidifying her status in the entertainment industry.
Kane also brought her charisma to the stage, notably as Madame Morrible in the acclaimed musical *Wicked*, where she captivated audiences in both regional productions and on Broadway from 2005 to 2014.
