Simon Baker
Biography
Simon Baker, born on July 30, 1969, and standing at 5 feet 9¾ inches (1.77 m), is an accomplished Australian actor and director. He gained prominent recognition for his portrayal of Patrick Jane in the CBS series The Mentalist and for playing Nicholas Fallin in the drama The Guardian.
In the realm of film, Baker is particularly noted for his role as Riley Denbo in Land of the Dead and as Christian Thompson in the cinematic adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada, which is based on the 2003 novel by the same name.
Hailing from Launceston, Tasmania, Baker was born to Elizabeth Labberton, a high school English teacher, and Barry Baker, a groundskeeper and mechanic. Raised in a Roman Catholic household, Baker's parents divorced when he was quite young. His mother later remarried Tom Denny, a butcher. He also has a sister, a physician based in Australia, along with three younger half-brothers. The family relocated to Ballina, New South Wales, in 1972, hoping for better job opportunities. Baker completed his primary education at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School in Ballina before graduating from Ballina High School in 1986, where he was known as Simon Baker-Denny.
