John M. Jackson
Biography
John Murice Jackson, born on June 1, 1950, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is an accomplished American actor widely recognized for his portrayal of Rear Admiral A. J. Chegwidden on the popular CBS television series JAG.
To distinguish himself in the entertainment industry, John adopted his middle initial "M." for his professional name, as there was already a registered member named John Jackson within the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) at the time he joined. The regulations set by SAG prevent multiple actors from sharing the same name, prompting Jackson to add the initial. It is worth noting that he is sometimes confused with another actor, John E. Jackson, who similarly uses a middle initial for this reason.
Throughout his career, John M. Jackson has showcased his talent across various roles, but it is his character in JAG that solidified his place in television history. With a distinctive presence and a wealth of experience, Jackson has captivated audiences and earned a reputation as a talented performer in the industry.
