Sandra Dale "Sandy" Dennis (April 27, 1937 – March 2, 1992) was a prominent American actress known for her diverse roles in both film and theater. She began her cinematic journey with a notable debut in the 1961 drama Splendor in the Grass. Dennis garnered critical acclaim for her role in the 1966 comedy-drama Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, which earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Throughout her career, Dennis showcased her talent in several films, including The Three Sisters (1966), Up the Down Staircase (1967), That Cold Day in the Park (1969), The Out-of-Towners (1970), God Told Me To (1976), The Four Seasons (1981), Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean (1982), and Another Woman (1988). Her last appearance on the big screen was in the 1991 crime drama The Indian Runner.

In addition to her film work, Dennis had a remarkable stage career, starring in the original production of Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. She received a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her role in A Thousand Clowns, as well as another Tony for Best Actress in a Play for her performance in Any Wednesday.
