Annette Bening
Biography
Annette Carol Bening, born on May 29, 1958, is a distinguished American actress whose career has flourished over more than 40 years. She has garnered numerous accolades, including a BAFTA Award and two Golden Globe Awards, alongside nominations for a Primetime Emmy, two Tony Awards, and five Academy Awards.
Bening's journey in the arts commenced in 1980 with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, and she made a memorable portrayal of Lady Macbeth in 1984 at the American Conservatory Theater. Her Broadway debut came in 1987 with Tina Howe's Coastal Disturbances, which earned her a Tony nomination. Noteworthy performances include Hedda Gabler at the Geffen Playhouse in 1999 and a revival of Arthur Miller's All My Sons on Broadway in 2019, leading to yet another Tony nomination.
She won the BAFTA for Best Actress for her role in American Beauty (1999) and received Academy Award nominations for her performances in The Grifters (1990), American Beauty, Being Julia (2004), The Kids Are All Right (2010), and Nyad (2023).
