Marina Foïs
Biography
Marina Sylvie Foïs, born on January 21, 1970, is a notable French actress known for her diverse roles in film and television. She was born in Boulogne-Billancourt, located in the Hauts-de-Seine department, to a family with a rich cultural background that includes Russian, Jewish Egyptian, German, and Italian heritage. Foïs' talent was first recognized at the age of 16 when she showcased her comedic abilities in "The School for Wives" in 1986. She pursued her education through correspondence courses, successfully earning her high school diploma two years later.
Foïs subsequently joined The Royal Imperial Green Rabbit Company, which evolved into the well-known comedic troupe, Les Robins des Bois, composed of students from Cours Florent under the guidance of Isabelle Nanty. In 1996, the group's work attracted the attention of Dominique Farrugia, leading to their participation in the Comédie+ program "La Grosse Émission," where Foïs contributed as a writer and performer for two years. The show's popularity grew when it later aired on Canal+, and in June 2001, Foïs departed from the troupe to pursue a successful solo career in film, releasing two to five movies each year.
On November 25, 2020, she was announced as the host for the 46th César Awards. Marina Foïs has two sisters; Giulia is a journalist, while Elena is a medical professional. Tragically, their brother Fabio lost his life in a plane crash during an aerobatic event. Marina has been in relationships with fellow actor Maurice Barthélémy and Mister Univers 2010, Maxime Lefrançois, and has been with director Éric Lartigau since 1999. The couple has two sons, Lazare, born on December 3, 2004, and Georges, born on September 25, 2008.
