James Anderson
Biography
James Ottie Anderson, Jr. (July 13, 1921 – September 14, 1969), also known by his stage name Kyle James, was a prominent American actor recognized for his work in television and film during the 1950s and 1960s. He gained widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Robert E. Lee "Bob" Ewell in the iconic film *To Kill a Mockingbird* (1962), a role that solidified his place in cinematic history.
Over the span of his career, Anderson amassed more than 120 acting credits, with a significant portion of his work appearing on television. He notably made three guest appearances on the beloved series *Perry Mason*, including his roles as murder victims Frank Anderson in the 1958 episode "The Case of the Pint-Sized Client" and Stanley Piper in the 1960 episode "The Case of the Ill-Fated Faker."
His career also included a variety of appearances in Western films, where he often embodied the rugged archetype of a gun-for-hire or outlaw. Tragically, Anderson passed away from a heart attack on September 14, 1969. Following his death, two of his films, *The Ballad of Cable Hogue* (1969) and *Little Big Man* (1970), were released, allowing his legacy to endure in cinematic memory.
