Hidekazu Mashima hails from Yonezawa in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. His passion for film was sparked during his time at Kokushikan University in Tokyo, where he initially studied law. Influenced by friends who shared a love for cinema, Mashima began taking acting classes, which eventually led to a significant breakthrough in his career. He landed the lead role in "Chong," a graduation film directed by Lee Sang Il, in 2000. This opportunity marked the beginning of his professional journey in acting.

Despite parental concerns about his decision to leave law school, Mashima made the bold choice to abandon his legal studies and fully commit to his acting aspirations in Tokyo.
