Max Riemelt
Biography
Max Riemelt, born on January 7, 1984, in East Berlin, East Germany, is an acclaimed German actor celebrated for his diverse roles in film and television. He gained international fame for his portrayal of Wolfgang Bogdanow, a skilled safecracker, in the groundbreaking Netflix series Sense8, created by the Wachowskis. Riemelt's film career includes notable performances in impactful movies such as Before the Fall (2004), The Wave (2008), and Free Fall (2013), the latter of which showcases a poignant gay romance and has drawn comparisons to Brokeback Mountain.
Riemelt embarked on his acting journey at the tender age of 13, featuring in German television series such as Eine Familie zum Küssen and Praxis Bülowbogen. His first significant leading role came in 1999 with the ZDF Christmas production Zwei allein, where he played the orphan "Max Loser." He has collaborated frequently with director Dennis Gansel, starting with the film Mädchen, Mädchen.
His talent has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including Best Actor at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2004 for his role in Napola and Best Young Actor at the Bavarian Film Awards in 2006 for Der Rote Kakadu.
