Kajol, born Kajol Mukherjee on August 5, 1974, and known post-marriage as Kajol Devgan, is a prominent Indian actress celebrated for her significant contributions to Hindi cinema. Hailing from the illustrious Mukherjee-Samarth family in Mumbai, she is the daughter of actress Tanuja and late filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee. As one of the highest-paid and most successful actresses in India, Kajol has garnered multiple prestigious accolades, including six Filmfare Awards, making her one of the most awarded actresses in the ceremony's history, alongside her late aunt Nutan.
Kajol's cinematic journey began with her debut in the 1992 film Bekhudi, but it was the 1993 thriller Baazigar that marked her first major success. She solidified her status as a leading actress through a series of blockbuster romances, such as Yeh Dillagi (1994), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). Her versatility shone through in various roles, earning her critical acclaim for her performances in films like Gupt: The Hidden Truth (1997), for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Villain, and the impactful My Name Is Khan (2010).
