Tõnu Oja, born on July 4, 1958, in Tallinn, is a distinguished Estonian actor, celebrated for his contributions to both stage and screen. He completed his studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 1980, marking the beginning of a prolific career in the performing arts. Since 2003, Oja has been a vital member of the Estonian Drama Theatre, where he has delivered memorable performances that have captivated audiences.

His artistic lineage is noteworthy; he is the elder brother of Rein Oja, who is also an accomplished actor and director. Continuing the family tradition, Tõnu's sons, Pääru Oja and Kaarel Oja, have made their marks in the performing arts as well, with Pääru establishing himself as an actor and Kaarel taking on leadership as a theatre CEO.
