Biography
Marie-Anne France Jacqueline Chazel, born on September 19, 1951, is a renowned French actress, screenwriter, and director whose career spans both film and television since 1974. Hailing from Gap, Hautes-Alpes, she is the daughter of celebrated actress Louba Guertchikoff (1919–1999).
Chazel's artistic journey began at Pasteur College in 1967, where she studied alongside future stars such as Michel Blanc, Gerard Jugnot, Thierry Lhermitte, and Christian Clavier. After earning her baccalaureate and pursuing two years in political science, she co-founded a theatrical group named Le Splendid in 1974, which included notable talents like Josiane Balasko.
Her breakthrough role came as Gigi in the cult classic Les Bronzés (1978), directed by Patrice Leconte. However, she is perhaps best recognized for her memorable portrayal of Ginette in the blockbuster comedy Les Visiteurs (1993), which solidified her status in French cinema.
In her personal life, Chazel was married to actor Christian Clavier from 1976 until 2001, and together they have a daughter, Margot Clavier, born in 1983. With a career rich in diverse roles and significant contributions to French entertainment, Marie-Anne Chazel remains a beloved figure in the industry.
