Lena Maria Jonna Olin, born on March 22, 1955, is a distinguished Swedish actress celebrated for her versatile performances across film and television. Her artistic journey began under the guidance of renowned director Ingmar Bergman, leading to her screen debut in the 1976 film Face to Face. After completing her education at a prestigious drama school, Olin joined the Royal Dramatic Theatre and subsequently appeared in Bergman's acclaimed works, including Fanny and Alexander (1982) and After the Rehearsal (1984).
Olin's international prominence surged with her role as a spirited artist in The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988), earning her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her portrayal of a Jewish survivor in Enemies, A Love Story (1989) garnered her an Academy Award nomination in the same category. Olin's talent continued to shine through her compelling performance as an abused wife in Chocolat (2000), which led to a BAFTA nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
