Lionel Andrés "Leo" Messi (Spanish pronunciation: [ljoˈnel anˈdɾes ˈmesi]; born June 24, 1987) is an Argentine football superstar, currently playing as a forward and serving as captain for both Inter Miami in Major League Soccer and the Argentina national team. Renowned for his extraordinary talent, Messi is often hailed as one of the greatest footballers in history. He has earned an unprecedented eight Ballon d'Or trophies, along with six European Golden Shoes, and has been named FIFA's best player eight times, setting multiple records throughout his illustrious career.
