Mekhi Thira Phifer, born on December 29, 1974, in Harlem, New York City, is a distinguished American actor recognized for his compelling performances across film and television. He gained widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Dr. Greg Pratt on the iconic NBC medical series ER, a role he held for several seasons. Phifer also made a significant impact in cinema with his role alongside Eminem in the critically acclaimed film 8 Mile, which showcased his versatility as an actor.

Phifer's career commenced in 1995 when he secured the lead role in Spike Lee's Clockers after impressing during an open casting call, triumphing over more than a thousand hopefuls.
