Biography

Scott Brady, born Gerard Kenneth Tierney on September 13, 1924, was a notable American actor known for his roles in film and television. He was the younger sibling of the well-known actor Lawrence Tierney. Brady's journey began when he served in the Navy during World War II, where he distinguished himself as a boxing champion. Following his discharge, he worked as a lumberjack before pursuing his passion for acting through formal training.

Brady carved a niche for himself in Hollywood, often portraying tough-guy characters in several memorable films, including He Walked by Night, Canon City, and Johnny Guitar. His television career flourished in the 1960s with appearances on the popular western series The Virginian. In the 1970s, he became a familiar face on the cop drama Police Story. Notably, he starred alongside Clint Eastwood in Ambush at Cimarron Pass, a film Eastwood later described as “probably the lousiest western ever made.”

Brady's last appearance on the big screen was in the iconic 1984 film Gremlins, and he portrayed Jack Feeney, the father of Shirley Feeney, in a memorable episode of Laverne & Shirley that aired on February 15, 1977. He also led the cast of the western series Shotgun Slade from 1959 to 1961. Scott Brady passed away from pulmonary fibrosis on April 16, 1985, at the age of 60, although some sources indicate emphysema as the cause.
