Jane Mallory Birkin, OBE (December 14, 1946 – July 16, 2023), was a renowned British-French actress, singer, and designer who left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. She gained widespread recognition through her long-lasting artistic and romantic collaboration with the iconic French musician Serge Gainsbourg, which captivated audiences during the 1960s and beyond. Birkin's diverse career spanned both French and English cinema, with standout performances in films such as Blowup (1966), Death on the Nile (1978), Evil Under the Sun (1982), and A Soldier's Daughter Never Cries (1998).
