Idina Kim Menzel (née Mentzel), born on May 30, 1971, is a celebrated American actress and singer, widely recognized for her outstanding contributions to musical theater, film, and music. Often referred to as the "Queen of Broadway," Menzel's illustrious career has been marked by numerous accolades, including an American Music Award, a Billboard Music Award, and a Tony Award, alongside multiple nominations for Drama League and Drama Desk Awards. In 2019, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, honoring her impact on live theater.

Menzel first gained acclaim in 1996 with her Broadway debut as Maureen Johnson in the rock musical Rent, a performance that earned her a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Her groundbreaking role as Elphaba in the 2003 hit Wicked solidified her status in Broadway history, for which she won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Following her departure from Wicked in 2005, she continued her reign in the West End, becoming the highest-paid actress in its theatrical history. In 2014, Menzel returned to Broadway with If/Then, garnering another Tony nomination.
