Biography

Uzoamaka Nwanneka "Uzo" Aduba is a prominent American actress celebrated for her compelling performances. She rose to fame through her portrayal of Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black, which aired from 2013 to 2019. Aduba's exceptional work on the show earned her significant accolades, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2014, an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2015, and two Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series in both 2014 and 2015. Remarkably, she is among a select group of actors who have received Emmy Awards in both the comedy and drama categories for the same character.

In 2020, Aduba took on the role of Shirley Chisholm in the Hulu miniseries Mrs. America, a performance that garnered her yet another Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, along with the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie/Miniseries. Additionally, she starred in Lynn Nottage’s Broadway play Clyde’s in 2021, earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play.
