Biography
Sven Justus Fredrik Wollter (January 11, 1934 – November 10, 2020) was a distinguished Swedish actor, author, and political activist. Renowned for his contributions to the performing arts, Wollter garnered the title of Best Swedish Actor on two occasions. His prominence in Sweden surged with his portrayal of Gusten, Madame Flod's son, in the 1966 television adaptation of August Strindberg's The People of Hemsö. Subsequently, he took on several memorable roles, notably in 1976, when he played Detective Sergeant Lennart Kollberg in Bo Widerberg's film The Man on the Roof.
On an international scale, Wollter is perhaps best recognized for his performance as Victor in Andrei Tarkovsky's thought-provoking film The Sacrifice. Additionally, he captured the attention of a broader television audience through his role as the retired Detective Chief Inspector Van Veeteren in the film adaptations of Håkan Nesser's acclaimed police novels.
