Biography

Ary Abittan, born on January 31, 1974, in Paris, France, is a prominent actor and comedian known for his vibrant contributions to French theatre and cinema. Hailing from a Sephardic Jewish family with roots in Morocco and Tunisia, Abittan spent his formative years between Garges-lès-Gonesse and Sarcelles. At the age of 19, he followed in his father's footsteps as a taxi driver, a role that enabled him to fund his passion for acting by taking theater classes.

Abittan's creative journey began in 1993 when he began crafting sketches while pursuing his theater education. He made his stage debut in 1994 and quickly gained recognition. A pivotal moment in his career came in 2007 when he starred in the play "Happy Hanukah," directed by Jean-Luc Moreau. That same year, he captured audiences' attention in the popular television series "Nos années pension," which aired on France 2 for three seasons.

Continuing to build on his success, Abittan appeared in the 2012 comedy "Dépression et des potes," directed by Arnaud Lemort, and made a notable appearance at the Marrakech du rire festival. His career reached new heights in 2014 when he starred alongside Christian Clavier and Chantal Lauby in the hit film "Serial (Bad) Weddings," directed by Philippe de Chauveron, solidifying his status as a beloved figure in French entertainment.
