Biography
Morgan Freeman, born on June 1, 1937, is a distinguished American actor, director, and narrator, celebrated for his iconic deep voice and diverse roles across numerous film genres. His impressive career, which spans over fifty years, has earned him numerous awards, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Originating from Memphis, Tennessee, Freeman grew up in Mississippi, where he began his journey in acting through school plays. He later studied theatre arts in Los Angeles and performed in various stage productions. He gained prominence in the 1970s through the children's series The Electric Company and showcased his talent in Shakespearean works, receiving an Obie Award for Coriolanus. His career breakthrough came with the film Street Smart (1987), leading to significant roles in Glory, Lean on Me, and Driving Miss Daisy (1989), which marked his first Best Actor Oscar nomination.
Freeman collaborated with Clint Eastwood in the acclaimed Unforgiven (1992) and received another Oscar nod for The Shawshank Redemption (1994). His notable performances also include roles in Se7en (1995) and Amistad (1997). He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor
